Alteration of Left Ventricular Endocardial Function by Intracavitary High-Power Ultrasound Interacts With Volume, Inotropic State, and al-Adrenergic Stimulation

چکیده
Background. High-power intracavitary ultrasound abbreviates left ventricular (LV) ejection duration, thereby decreasing mechanical LV performance, presumably by selective impairment of endocardial endothelial function. Methods and Results. Effects of ultrasound were evaluated in the ejecting LV of anesthetized, open-chest dogs under different conditions of LV volume and contractile state and after mild selective al-adrenergic stimulation. LV pressures, left atrial pressures, and regional segment lengths were measured in anterior and posterior midwall. A cylindrical ultrasound probe (0.9 MHz, 25 W) mounted

متن کاملEffects of myocardial alpha 1-adrenergic receptor stimulation and blockade on contractility in humans.
BACKGROUND Although alpha-adrenergic receptors are present in both normal and failing human left ventricular myocardium and mediate a positive inotropic effect in several other species, it is not known whether stimulation of myocardial alpha-adrenergic receptors exerts a positive inotropic effect or contributes to basal contractile state in vivo in humans. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 15 pa...

THE INCREASING USE of calcium-entry blocking agents requires that their pharmacologic interaction with other cardiovascular drugs be carefully investigated. Although marketed in this country for its antiarrhythmic properties, verapamil is a potent dilator of vascular smooth muscle and has proved effective in the management of stable angina pectoris, both alone'13 and in combination with f3-adre...
